The Biologics Engineering team is responsible for the discovery and optimisation of biological candidate drugs to support all therapy area drug discovery pipelines and for the development of in-house biologics discovery platforms and novel drug modalities to support future drug discovery efforts.

Central to this effort is the effective management and ability to learn from the large and complex data sets we generate and excitingly the team is growing to meet this challenge. This role provides the opportunity for a talented and motivated bioinformatician with expertise in early drug discovery to contribute to the development of an end-to-end data management and analysis capability within Biologics Engineering that will significantly impact the delivery of the novel biologics drugs of the future.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the development of an end-to-end data management and analysis capability within Biologics Engineering team

  • Work collaboratively with data and drug discovery scientists to understand their scientific and technical challenges in data analyses and management

  • Drive adoption of new data management and analyses processes for complex biologics workflows

  • Contribute to external and internal cross functional collaborations to find the most effective data management solutions

  • Support testing and verification of data management analyses and tools and pipelines

  • Troubleshoot data quality and tracking issues by collaborating with lab and other personnel

  • Build and maintain high level of experience with Biologics Engineering team’s informatics environment and train bench scientists in data management and analyses processes, including verification of data quality

  • Demonstrate effective, professional interpersonal communication and ability to translate complex concepts to non- experts

Essential for the role

  • Experienced in relevant PhD (or equivalent graduate degree plus proven applied experience) in biological sciences

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and application of data management approaches

  • Expertise in data management including curation, data engineering and reproducible research practices

  • Enthusiasm and persistence in the application of analytic methods to complex biological problems.

  • Capability of successfully contributing to multiple simultaneous projects

  • Strong, professional communication skills and excellent attention to detail, capable of developing good working relationships with diverse individuals

  • Experience working within a team environment

  • Proactively develops knowledge

  • Acts with integrity and does the right thing

Desirable for the role

  • Experience in biologics discovery

  • Experienced in use of biologics databases e.g. Genedata Biologics

  • Awareness of data requirements for machine learning, graph modelling and artificial-intelligence to model and learn from biological data

  • Experience in software development best practices
