At the British Council, we build connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and other countries through arts and culture, education and the English language. We work in two ways – directly with individuals to transform their lives, and with governments and partners to make a bigger difference for the longer term, creating benefit for millions of people all over the world. We work on the ground in more than 100 countries. In 2019-20 we connected with 80 million people directly and with 791 million overall, including online and through our broadcasts and publications.
We have now launched a procurement to contract trainers within a framework agreement, to deliver Researcher Connect Online. The Researcher Connect programme consists of a series of short interactive modules for researchers at the early stage of their research career and from any academic discipline. It focuses on the development of excellent communication skills using English language in international, multi-cultural contexts and will enable learners to communicate their research effectively with a range of audiences in appropriate academic and/or professional styles. The current Researcher Connect modules cover key aspects of research communication and are delivered through online training, including writing, speaking and listening components, supported by online materials. In an increasingly competitive and global market, researchers and the institutions they represent need to communicate their research effectively to an international audience. To respond to this need, the British Council developed the Researcher Connect programme in 2013 as a paid- for service product. Over the last 7 years, Researcher Connect has helped more than 5000 early career researchers around the globe to present their research at international conferences, write in international journals, apply for funding and maximise the impact of their research by presenting it to funders, industry and the wider public. Research Connect will enable learners to communicate their research effectively with a range of audiences in appropriate academic and/or professional styles. In March 2021, the programme was successfully piloted for delivery via online platforms across 7 countries (Thailand, China, Brazil, Colombia, Greece, Egypt and Israel) and will now be further rolled out.
They should have:
