Sourcing and Supply within UK Operations manages the material flow through the factory, enabling our packaging and processing areas to produce stock for customer orders. Post manufacture, the department also manages all product storage and shipment to over 100 countries globally. Divided into a number of departments, the function plans all aspects of the manufacturing process, liaising closely with our procurement team, inbound and outbound warehouses, line support teams and customer and distributor liaison. It is therefore vital that systems are managed and controlled in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Reporting into the Site Planning Lead, the Capacity Manager owns the local capacity process and drives the Capacity Process for the assigned area. The aim is to reflect the accurate capacity data in the planning system by supporting, coaching and challenging Production Planners, PET (Process Execution Team) Managers and other site functions.


Process ownership

Work with other Site Capacity Managers to implement process ownership in accordance with Business Process Management. Ensure local process is well documented and drive process improvements and consistency with global capacity definitions. Ensure high capacity understanding and ownership in PET and Site planning.

Accountability for reflection of capacity in the planning system in Operational and Tactical Horizon

Responsible for the consolidated capacity view for the assigned area, you will train and Coach Production Planners to follow capacity processes and maintain accurate capacity in system acting as the point of contact for raising any relevant issues.

Regularly follow-up capacity parameters, compare actual data and ensure integrity and accuracy is maintained for relevant master data. Ensure alignment to the global standard format.

Flexibility in Capacity

Work closely with assigned production area to understand flexibility in ramping up and down over time. Maintain the “capacity map” and support the NSPs in line balancing.

Sales & Operational Planning and Long Term Capacity process

Represent Site Planning in Supply Consensus Meetings and support the PET lead/Manager in Capacity discussions. Be the link between site functions and GSC&S in capacity related questions.

Site Wall to Wall Supply Chain

Collaborate with other site functions to optimize the internal site supply chain from a capacity and lead time perspective, sponsoring, leading and participating in projects.

Essential Skills:

  • Relevant experience within a complex Supply Chain Environment (Manufacturing, Planning)

  • Advanced supply chain (capacity and inventory) planning skills

  • Digital savvy (data & system minded)

  • In depth working knowledge of SAP, specifically APO PPDS/Business Warehouse

  • Understanding of supply chain planning parameters, master data and master data integrity & quality.

  • Proficient in using key Lean Tools

  • A natural communicator with the ability to build mutual trust, respect, and collaborate among partners.

  • Proactive attitude and a collaborative problem solver

  • Strong influencing skills.

  • Confident in effectively presenting to all levels of the organization

  • Adaptable and resilient

Desirable Skills:

  • An understanding of Pharmaceutical GMP principles

  • Degree in Business, Logistics, Sciences or Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • APICS / CSCP or equivalent certification

  • Lean certification

  • Understanding of and contributing to an S&OP process.

  • Leadership experience
