We are seeking a dedicated early career scientist to embed themselves into our Cell Biology team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a fast-growing team within a vibrant environment focused on advancing oncology therapies by using the very latest in-vitro mammalian cellular systems.

What you’ll do:

You’ll focus on on advancing our ability to develop and analyse models of complex human disease and develop CRISPR genome editing technologies to interrogate drug resistance and help build next generation therapies.

This is a laboratory-based role, where you will craft and lead experiments to progress our drug discovery pipeline. As part of our innovative team, you will also be supported and encouraged to contribute to the improvement of current genetic manipulation technologies. You will be comfortable working as part of a cross functional team to interpret data and determine next steps to drive projects forwards. You’ll interact with colleagues across our global organization and with high profile external collaborators. You’ll have the opportunity to maintain scientific excellence, presenting data to key stakeholders and colleagues internally and at external conferences, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Working within AstraZeneca’s Discovery Sciences unit, you’ll be joining a community of scientists with broad technological expertise dedicated to drug discovery.

Essential Criteria:

  • BSc or MSc in cell biology, molecular biology or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of lab-based experience with culturing, transfection and phenotypic analysis of cell models, molecular biology or equivalent experience
  • Strong experimental design and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent team working, communication and networking skills with experience of interacting effectively across interfaces of discipline, culture and expertise.

Desirable Criteria:

Experience with any of the following:

  • Cellular, DNA and protein-based assays using a variety of technologies for measuring disease-relevant phenotypes
  • Gene editing techniques
  • Creating and/or working with complex cell models of human disease
