2022-23 ENRICHMENT SCHEME

We are pleased to invite applications to the 2022-23 Enrichment scheme.

Now entering its seventh year, the scheme offers students currently enrolled on a doctoral programme at a UK university the opportunity to enrich their doctoral studies by building connections with The Alan Turing Institute and engage with its diverse community of researchers. 

The Enrichment scheme has been designed to give doctoral students the opportunity to continue their doctorate with their current supervisor at their home university, while learning new methodologies, building new collaborations and developing research independence at the Turing.
 

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from students who will embrace the opportunity to enrich their own research through the Turing environment. We encourage applications from a broad range of academic disciplines and backgrounds. 

Students must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered for the scheme. 

  • Students must be registered on a doctoral programme at a UK university and have the support of their university to participate in the scheme 
  • Students must be in the “active research phase” 
  • The student’s supervisor must support their application and be willing to continue supervising them while taking part in the scheme 
  • Students must hold a valid Right to Study in the UK 

What can we offer? 

During the Enrichment scheme, students have the opportunity to collaboratelearn and apply new methodologiesdevelop research independence and examine the ethical issues in their projects. 

As part of the scheme, we offer several benefits: 

  • Two Enrichment awards (Enrichment Community Award and Enrichment Placement Award) that give applicants the freedom to choose the type of engagement that suits them best and the flexibility to participate in the scheme either in person or remotely  
  • Membership of the Turing’s online community 
  • A collaborative online space with no disciplinary boundaries 
  • Opportunities to collaborate with researchers working in other domains, including in Turing Interest Groups 
  • Opportunity to apply for Microsoft Azure cloud credits and other research resources 
  • Access to training schemes and activities at staff rates 
  • The offer of laptop for the duration of the placement (Enrichment Placement Award only)
