The role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the New Modalities Product Development (NMPD) function within global product development. You will be responsible for equipment lifecycle within the Product Development team; this involves maintaining operational capability by ensuring availability of existing technology.

Working in collaboration with the wider team, you will design, develop and implement global best practice in equipment support for example implementation of electronic equipment log-books. You will also have the opportunity to develop ways to monitor equipment utilisation.

Given the nature of the role you will be a key contact for colleagues within AstraZeneca and external service providers, in order to enable the instrument maintenance process.

You will also represent Global Product Development on improvement teams and activities with key partner’s therefore effective communication skills are key to this role.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Manages the instrument and equipment footprint (Business process owner)

  • Ensure efficient use of existing equipment

  • Looks for innovative opportunities to access technology

  • Monitoring repairs/maintenance and consumables budgets

  • Responsible for instrument and equipment issues as part of established compliance team

  • Work with instrument and compliance teams to ensure all guidelines are in place for instruments to operate in a compliant manner

  • Perform the annual quality reviews to ensure instruments and equipment remain compliant

  • Support colleagues writing deviations, documentation, and change controls for communal instruments and equipment

  • Ensure instrument and equipment documentation are maintained to appropriate standard

  • Provide training in the instrument and equipment ownership process, managing SABA roles

Essential for the role

  • Have a broad understanding of the range of analytical, pharmaceutical and formulation equipment employed in Product Development

  • Ideally educated to BSc level (or equivalent in experience) in combination with solid experience within the industry

  • Have a thorough understanding of principles, applications and management of SHE and cGMP

  • Evidence of good communication skills and strong operational relationships with customers

  • Desirable but not essential to have the skills to provide first line support in separation science technology
