The International Finance Team is responsible for ensuring strategic alignment between Group Finance, Commercial leadership and market dynamics. Ultimately driving achievement of the agreed growth drivers and International Profit and Loss.

As the successful role holder you will support the finance function in the International Region (countries outside Europe, US and Japan) to ensure strategic and operational goals of the business are delivered. You will drive business planning processes and performance management including business insights.

Your aim will be to deliver and implement standardisation across the Region and support our Finance Vision of being a leading Finance function across the Pharmaceutical industry. You will enjoy working globally with all senior levels of our organisation including the Chief Financial Officers and you will be able to influence and negotiate, using your strong communication skills.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

Contribute to ensure strategic and operational objectives of the business are delivered

  • Supporting and providing clarity through financial/business analysis/benchmarks to leaders/countries to facilitate the decision making process

  • Ensuring accurate forecast (including implementation of new forecasting models)

  • Close collaboration with markets and regional marketing team to understand key business drivers such as markets, competitors, share of voice ensuring knowledge dissemination

  • Future new launches support including business cases, business model definition, what if scenarios, projections, trend analysis and resourcing

  • Provide finance insights into regional business cases

  • Participate in specific ad hoc projects bringing business/finance knowledge

  • Resource allocation

  • Financial modelling and meaningful information consolidation

  • Provide fit for purpose information to aid decision making

  • Report on monthly sales estimates and actual sales to EVP International and VP Finance, providing meaningful variance analysis commentary

  • Work closely with the regional head office heads of departments on budget setting, spend monitoring, set targets and plans to mitigate if there is a risk to the full year spend.

Drive Business Planning Processes

  • Lead/coordinate/facilitate cross-functional, cross-country business plans exercises to deliver realistic short term and long term plans

  • Work closely with the countries/regional team/global to ensure smooth planning, budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Manage interactions with global/country teams

  • Drive standardization and harmonization across the Region

  • Collaboration with Group Finance

  • Act as the SET lead for International, ensuring the boundary change process if fully completed, within deadline and policy.

Drive Business Performance Management

  • Liaise with FT office to set up strong management reporting system/packs

  • Providing monthly business/financial performance insights to relevant stakeholders

  • Maintaining monthly revenue Rolling Estimate including tracking of risk and ops, which accelerates to weekly in the final quarter

  • Monthly performance tracking of key priorities

  • Provide productivity and profitability analysis

  • Monitor the inventory levels in the 10 key International markets, ensuring stock remains within the set budget or deviations clearly understood with remedial actions required

  • Ensure all cross charges are posted to the relevant management units books, within the internal COBOU and NTI systems.

Contribute to share best practises across the Region

Support simplification Agenda and cross SET projects.

Essential skills and experience

  • Degree in Finance/Engineering qualification

  • Extensive work experience in Finance/Commercial Function

  • Experience of working across a global organisation and working with key senior stakeholders

  • Flexible and can do attitude

  • Strong analytical ability with excellent focus on detail

  • Strong excel business modelling capabilities

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team focused environment

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a process with minimal or no supervision

  • Ability to influence others without authority

  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively manage multiple and frequently changing priorities

Desirable skills and experience

  • MBA or other Finance/Business qualification e.g. Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA

  • International Experience
