Lean is how we deliver for our people and our patients. The Global Operations Lean Centre of Excellence is responsible for developing and deploying the behaviours, principles, standards and tools of the AstraZeneca Supply System across our network to drive tangible business value.

Reporting to the Lean CoE lead and as leaders of the Operations Lean Transformation, each Global Lean Director – Lean CoE owns a significant sub-systems of the AstraZeneca Supply System. You’ll be accountable within your networks to drive the delivery of business value through the effective deployment of the behaviours, principles, standards and tools across the AZ network.

Lean transformation is not static and evolves as we mature. Hence the portfolio of each Global Lean Director -Lean CoE also evolves over time to ensure the Lean CoE is working on the key strategic priorities.

As a Global Lean Director – Lean CoE, we’ll need you to be also passionate about digital to support AstraZeneca’s aspiration is to accelerate the use digital solutions to improve the efficiency of AZSS. You will be responsible, in conjunction with your network and IT for the development of the digital strategy for your portfolio, determining the appropriate balance between standardisation and local flexibility, whilst ensuring that the key principles of Lean are followed.

What you’ll do:

You’ll lead global networks to own, drive and deploy AZSS and its sub-systems in a coordinated way across the network to deliver business goals and meet maturity targets.

Through collaborating closely with other AZSS sub-system owners, you’ll ensure the component parts of AZSS evolve/improve together to provide AZ with a world class supply system matched to the business challenges and drive adherence to these standards globally

We’ll look for you to be a Lean inspiration to others. A champion for Lean and a senior Lean lead globally ensuring Lean thinking is embedded into all that is done.

You’ll have the opportunity to provide training materials, expert advice and coaching and mentoring to the business and take shared accountability for business results.

Through internal best practice and external benchmarking we’ll expect you to improve what good looks like.

You’ll represent AZ externally, acting as a brand ambassador and for AZ as a great place to work.

We’ll support you to own and manage the digitalisation of your portfolio to optimise value delivery and exploit technology developments. This will include scaling standard solutions centrally whilst sponsoring innovation locally using Agile/DT approaches to develop new solutions quickly and with the user in mind.

You’ll partner with IT specialists across the organisation where digital solutions are being developed. To connect the activities and maintain alignment with the digital vision.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Educated to undergraduate degree level or higher in technical/business subject area

  • Demonstrates significant industry related experience in Lean/Six Sigma projects and programs with a track record of delivering business impact and sustained change

  • Experience of working collaboratively with cross functional teams and building key networks across functions, regions and sites.
