AstraZeneca IT is currently running a major transformation programme which consists of several workstreams working together to deliver IT- wide changes to our Operating Model, Organisation, Capabilities and ways of working, to underpin our IT2025 Strategy.

As part of new operating model, we are transitioning from an IT universe which currently consists of 1000s of stand-alone applications, to a limited number of broad Enterprise Platforms, to drive re-use and commonality. Future IT products and applications will be built on these platforms leveraging standard components, security frameworks, re-usable platform APIs etc.

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated and articulate individual with successful track record of delivering Enterprise Platforms to a large Global organisation underpinned by agile ways of working to drive optimisation, re-use and ultimately faster value to the business.

The Head of Enterprise Platforms role resides within our Enterprise Capabilities and Solutions (ECS) Function. ECS is a newly formed team, designed to be a key Centre for Enablement for Enterprise Platforms, Testing, Hyper Automation, AR/VR and Application Maintenance. This role will need to optimise our shared off-shore capability, incorporate agile ways of working to deliver our Enterprise Platforms, and identify the next stage of capability development such as value-based outcomes rather than service management.

The successful candidate will need to have had experience in owning the adoption of Enterprise Platform strategies and capabilities, and transforming application landscapes through automation, process simplification and agile ways of Working. They will work closely with the technical and operational leadership teams to ensure successful delivery of our Enterprise Platforms. They will work with key ECS collaborators, such as Business Technology Groups and Enterprise Technology Services, to ensure appropriate changes in demand management and prioritization, enabling successful Agile, Platform-based ways of working. They must have experience of working within a global organisation to design and deliver the right “Shared Service” operating model and organisational design as part of the wider IT function, bringing with them and sharing best practise. This role needs to ensure that the right culture and processes are embedded to drive continuous improvement.

The Platform Owner is responsible for crafting roadmaps and continual improvement plans for platform. This role will provide subject matter expertise, owning Platform Delivery from early concept to market and subsequent optimisation. The Platform Owner advises Platform Engineering within a Platform Unit, ensuring business fit and non-functional elements of platform implementation are effective. This role plays a key role in Defect / Incident resolution and is equipped to mitigate significant and sustained impact to the business.

The Head of Enterprise Platforms is encouraged to be closely involved in the establishment of the early cross-functional Enterprise Platforms. As we transition more towards Enterprise Platforms, the role is expected to provide leadership to multiple global Enterprise Platform teams
