Salary: The salary range will be £44,737 -£ 52,764 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance

UCL has developed a wide expertise in robotics, control and autonomous systems including within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Department is committed to expanding its research in the field of robotic engineering and are encouraging new and innovative areas of activity through this appointment.
The successful candidate will develop and lead research in the field of robotic engineering to an international standing. They will attract funding for research from national and international sources working with departmental colleagues, other departments within UCL and in collaboration with other national and international research institutions.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues to develop a new and exciting curricula for undergraduate and post-graduate programmes and short courses. They will also manage post-doctoral research assistants and supervise research students undertaking PhDs and EngDs related to the engineering specialisation.
The person appointed will already have made a contribution to their field demonstrated though having a strong publication record. Having secured research grant and being able to demonstrate a strong teaching portfolio are desirable. However, the Department encourages early career researchers who aim to pursue an independent academic career.
The successful candidate will work in the broad field of mechanical-engineering robotics. Hence, a strong background in a mechanical-engineering related sub discipline is required – they might possess expertise in areas such as optimisation, morphological computation, embodied intelligence, design engineering or others related to various applications.
Synergies with research areas led by members in the Department and in other Departments among the Faculty of Engineering (e.g., closely working with colleagues from UCL Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering or UCL Computer Science who have expertise in control or AI for instance) is expected.
