Make a more meaningful impact to patients’ lives around the globe

Here you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful difference to patients’ lives. With science at its heart, this is the place where breakthroughs born in the lab become transformative medicines – for the world’s most complex diseases. Answer unmet medical needs by pioneering the next wave of science, focusing on outcomes and shaping the patient ecosystem.

With our ground-breaking pipeline, the outlook is bright. Be proud to be part of a place that has achieved so much, yet is still moving forward. There’s no better time to join our global, growing enterprise as we lead the way for healthcare and society.

Show your individuality in a diverse community of equals

With colleagues from 70 countries across our UK sites, you’ll find your voice in an inclusive and diverse community. Our Cambridge hub is high on the target list of international destinations to work and stacked with globally important roles.

Diversity and uniqueness is valued. In our ‘speak up’ culture, we encourage input from everybody. After all, even the smallest ideas can lead to major change.

As a community of professionals, we welcome innovation in all its forms. From breakthrough medicines to production efficiencies, each new step forward reveals the potential of what science can do.

Follow the science to explore and innovate

Join the team unlocking the power of what science can do. We are working towards treating, preventing, modifying and even curing some of the world’s most complex diseases. Here we have the potential to grow our pipeline and positively impact the lives of billions of patients around the world.

In Vivo Expressed Biologics (IVEB) is a team of innovators – always in pursuit of the most effective compounds against new and challenging therapeutic agents. We are pioneering new drug formats, which involves introducing the genetic code for a therapeutic biologic into the patient’s body and enabling their own tissues to produce the therapeutic biologic as required.

If you are lab-based scientist, experienced in a range of molecular biology techniques to profile the next generation of nucleic acid based medicines – then this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

As a molecular biologist, you will be responsible for designing and executing experimental strategies to profile the impact of nucleic acid therapies on host cells, quantifying expression levels of the therapeutic and the host genes, as well as driving innovation within the department through internal and external collaborations.

What you’ll do:

  • Work independently to deliver complex experimental work
  • Perform gene expression profiling experiments at the gene, mRNA or protein level such as Q-PCR, or western blot
  • Analyse data, making detailed observations and interpretation of results
  • Presents findings at internal (intra- and inter-departmental) project team and function meetings
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication by establishing good working relationships with team and department members and others within the company

Essential Criteria:

  • BSc, MSc or equivalent experience, in life sciences – with a focus on molecular biology
  • Application of Q-PCR techniques such as TaqMan, or other quantitative measure of gene/mRNA levels
  • Experience in experimental method optimisation and creative problem solving
  • Excellent teamworking and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to quality and best practice
  • Action-orientated and flexible, to meet challenging deadlines
  • High degree of scientific and personal integrity

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a matrix environment
  • Experience and technical knowledge of molecular cloning techniques
  • Solid understanding of laboratory automation and sample tracking systems
  • Knowledge of drug discovery and drug discovery related subject areas
  • Experience in collaborating within and outside of immediate team
