News intern – diversity programme, Nature
Fixed Term Contract (3 months)
Closing date: 13th June 2021
As part of our commitment to foster diversity and inclusion, Nature is recruiting for a new internship in its news team. We are looking for a Black candidate with a passion for science communication, to join a friendly and dynamic team at the world’s best-known scientific journal.
The position is a paid, full-time training and development opportunity open to anyone of Black heritage, which includes those who identify as Black, African, Caribbean, Black British or Mixed/Multiple ethnic groups.
If successful, you will spend three months working with reporters and editors across the news team. You will write articles for our audience of working scientists and build up a portfolio of published work. Although interns primarily cover news, you could also have the opportunity to write features or other articles.
You should have (or be studying for) a degree in a STEM subject and a strong interest in writing or journalism, or a background in journalism and a demonstrable understanding of science or technology.
To apply, please send a CV and a short supporting statement (no more than 500 words) that explains why you qualify for the internship, how you will benefit from it and what you will bring to the role. You may also submit writing samples — such as links to a blog or any previously published work — to support your application.
The role is based in Nature’s London office, but could be partly or fully remote. Please indicate your preferred start date in your application.
