The postholder will play a key role in the Academy’s close-knit policy team, spending most of their time supporting its influential major policy projects, including its COVID-19 related projects. This will require working closely with a range of Academy Fellows, other experts and stakeholders to identify, analyse and drive progress on key science policy topics. They will also work on other policy projects that support the delivery of our strategic challenge ‘To harness our expertise and convening power to tackle the biggest scientific and health challenges and opportunities facing our society’. This will include activities to inform and influence the regulation of and infrastructure for biomedical and health research.
A team player, ideally with experience of developing and delivering programmes of activities and with knowledge of the UK policy environment, they will have a strong appetite to work with partners across research disciplines, sectors and communities to influence key science policy decisions. First-rate communication skills and attention to detail are essential as the role will also involve preparing and disseminating briefings, consultation responses and policy reports. The postholder will be expected to foster excellent relationships with Fellows, external partners and key stakeholders, as well as with staff across the Academy.
