We now have an exciting opportunity as a Portfolio Manager for the Projects and Change initiatives in UK Operations
What you’ll do
Lead the establishment of the enterprise project portfolio, it’s definition, framework & processes, from project demand management & strategic alignment to objectives & success criteria. This includes evaluation, selection & prioritization, through to execution, tracking & measuring results, with support from key partners
Build & maintain a comprehensive plan for the portfolio, based on the existing plans of each constituent project or program, with clear visibility and management of interdependencies
Link portfolio definition, selection and prioritisation to resource, budget and headcount cycles
Monitor portfolio delivery to strategic objectives, using portfolio management to identify gaps in strategy execution, with focus on budgets, milestones, resources and dependencies
Engage and conduct regular reviews with relevant partners to validate and assess the project portfolio, implement project change control and (re)prioritise to meet business needs as required
Provide guidance on business cases, identifying the business impact, the probability of satisfying business needs, the anticipated business benefits, return on investments and the risks and consequences of failure
Oversee & coordinate dependencies across the projects & programs in the portfolio and resolve issues, raising them when required.
Build and maintain portfolio communications and reporting, including monitoring of benefits realisation, to key partners
Lead reviews of challenged/compromised portfolio initiatives and provide recommendation to SteerCo to adopt, adapt or abandon
Ensure adherence to agreed portfolio governance & controls acting as System Owner for the Digital solution
Lead the creation & maintenance of the required project portfolio documentation & artefacts
Perform regular project health checks, coach and mentor regarding systemic deficiencies
Skills & Experience
Significant portfolio management experience across a high number of varied projects, in a complex business environment.
Substantial experience managing financial budgets
Experience of diverse roles with growing leadership responsibilities across major projects/ programs
Resource planning, reporting, prioritization & budgeting
Validated experience in managing “upward” among senior leadership
Demonstrable experience in leading, engaging & collaborating with diverse teams
Evidence of driving continuous improvement, process-centric thinking and a Lean attitude
Strong scenario based thinking, with the ability to develop and communicate clear insights enabling strong decision-making
Demonstrated commitment to life long learning in the Program, Portfolio and Projects space
