Programme Manager – 12 Month Secondment/FTO or FTC

We are on an exciting journey to improve the way we work through global productivity initiatives, simplification and standardisation. We have a requirement for a Programme Manager who will support us on this journey, managing large workstreams and ensuring scope, timelines, resource, budget and methodology are adhered to. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle, planning and implementing the project in accordance to the project timelines and managing all Workstreams in a virtual matrix organisation; setting up required governance and ensuring all adhere to it. You will be positioned at the heart of the project and be the bridge between the project and the business stakeholders, you will be comfortable engaging with and influencing at all levels, including C-Suite. Experienced in handling complex projects, you will utilise your experience to evaluate and oversee the risk management, reporting and provide assurance as the Workstreams deploy.

Typical Accountabilities

Our Programme Manager will:

  • Status report on behalf of the Programme at all levels required
  • Set, create and drive project governance; ensuring clear agendas and objectives are set, timely pre-read and presentation packs created, clear actions and decisions taken and tracked to timely completion

  • Work with all Workstreams to consolidate and support reporting, scoping, planning and deployment
  • Work closely with the Finance Leads to ensure project benefits, budgets and actual spend are tracked and reported; escalating changes and risks/issues
  • Create and execute central programme project plans and dependencies; revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements and ensure deliverables are met effectively and efficiently – escalating when off track
  • Manage the discussions, decisions, onboarding and relationships with required supplier contracts
  • Identify and assign roles and responsibilities to deliver the agreed plan
  • Manage relationships with key business stakeholders and ensure that scope and business requirements are effectively captured and work with relevant Workstreams to ensure the impact of the project is understood by the business
  • Apply highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in project management, project planning, budgets and methodologies
  • Review the need for and agree deliverables and appropriate KPIs; ensuring sign-off in a timely manner
  • Understand the importance of complying to confidentiality, quality and compliance principles – manage risks and issues and ensure the end solution adheres to the required level of compliance
  • Identify and drive resolution of risks and issues; chasing compliance within the project where needed
  • Manage all RAID logs – ensuring data is ready for reporting in real time
  • Work with Workstreams to develop detailed change, cutover and deployment plans and ensure controlled hand-overs to users and business as usual

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience


  • 10+ years experience in transformation as Programme/Project Manager with a proven track record
  • Experience of business transition projects
  • Experience of leading projects with budgets of >$50m
  • Ability to interpret and communicate project information into shared language and in alignment with AZ business
  • Proven track record in delivering high risk programme/projects and decision making
  • Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines


  • Project Management qualification
  • Pharmaceutical Life Cycle knowledge and experience
  • Business Process Management experience
