The job holder will be working on crafting, implementing and leading a Data policy that balance benefit and risk for responsible reuse and will be required to employ a range of skills including policy expertise, project management, knowledge of external regulations e.g. GDPR and have an ability to develop strong relations and effective business processes with internal partners.
Critical member of the Policy Operational Team and contributor to wider R&D Data Policy strategy.
Accountable for designing legal & ethical review processes for R&D Scientific Data
Perform legal and ethical review of data as well as advising a team which will perform legal & ethical review of data!
Lead collaboration projects where data is shared to third parties
Lead all aspects of tagging of data assets as needed after legal & ethical review is complete
Provide Subject-Matter-Expertise related to the legal & ethical review processes involving Informed Consent, legal holds etc!
Lead defined policy implementation projects e.g. Legal and Informed Consent Framework and provide strategic direction and advice for automation to enable operational scale-up
Provide support and advice for ongoing studies related ICF language to support re-use of data and provide strategic direction on how new studies can be future proofed for re-use
Collaborate with other members of the Data Office team, functional units, & the DS & AI community to aid the Data FAIRification process.
Lead projects, helping internal partners with shaping data sharing projects according to policy
Lead / mentor junior staff
Own the shaping and development of Policy based on internal and external influences, including writing of policy documentation
Lead prioritised strategic projects/initiatives, as agreed with leadership, to future-proof the processes applied for responsible re-use of data
Deliver and maintain practices on sharing clinical information within AstraZeneca and be the exemplary leader with vision in this area, within AZ.
Relevant degree in Information/Data Science, Computer Science, Informatics, IT, Medical, life sciences, Legal or other related subject area.
Experience of pharma and the life sciences
Solid experience in legal & ethical review of data and hands-on implementation processes
Operational understanding of legal & ethical compliance frameworks, data repositories, data management principles, and analytic tools.
Superb communication skills and ability to build positive relationships. Ability to collaborate closely with people at all levels.
Strong project or programme management skills
Travel – willingness and ability to travel domestically & internationally.
Resilience – ability to overcome and motivate others in the face of a changing environment
