Research Assistant

Job summary

The Department of Chemical Engineering is looking for a Research Assistant to work in the area of process design and quality control for RNA manufacturing. The post is funded by the Wellcome_LEAP initiative to investigate novel manufacturing routes for RNA vaccines. The particular work to be undertaken in the post is the application of Quality by Design (QbD) method for continuous manufacturing of RNA.

Duties and responsibilities

The postholder will develop a list quality attributes, use safety and efficacy considerations to rank critical ones, link these to material and process parameters and produce a semi-quantitative QbD analysis of RNA manufacturing, including a tentative design space and control methodology. This will then be used to build a model of the manufacturing process which will be updated with experimental data.

Essential requirements

The successful candidate must hold a MSc in Life Science Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience. It is also essential for candidates to have:
* Experience of the application of QbD methods to RNA manufacturing.
* Practical experience within a research environment and/or publication in relevant and referred journals.
* Experience in dealing with project partners
* Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including statistics and process models
* Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including statistics and process models
