Job summary

We are seeking applications for a Research Associate to work on an exciting new project that aims to develop CAR-iNKT cell immunotherapy for blood cancers. This work is funded by SUDA, a commercial partner of Imperial College London. The work will take place in Professor Anastasios Karadimitris’ laboratory in the Centre for Haematology. The programme of research focuses on the biology and therapeutic applications of iNKT cell cells against cancer, infectious and autoimmune diseases.

Duties and responsibilities

You will help develop several in vitro and in vivo facets of the project that will provide the basis for clinical development of CAR-iNKT cell-based immunotherapy for blood cancers. You will have responsibility for aspects of day-to-day co-ordination, running and maintenance of the group’s projects. This will include conducting scientific work and data analyses, as well as preparing data for publication.

You must be organised, highly self-motivated and have excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills. You will need to manage their time and performance, must be strongly proactive, knowledgeable and able to solve complex problems.

Essential requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, reliable and well organised Research Associate who shares our excitement about the research we do. You should possess a PhD in Immunology or an equivalent subject. You should have experience with cellular immunology assays and in vivo experimental work. You should also have experience with standard molecular and biochemical assays, such as qPCR and Western Blot. Experience with the immunology of iNKT cells is desirable but not essential.

The ability to conduct a decent review of recent literature and the ability to develop and apply new concepts is essential. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, the ability to solve problems, and the ability to work both on your own initiative and as a member of a team.

This is a full time, fixed term post until 13 August 2023. You will be based at the Hammersmith Campus.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £36,694 – £39,888 per annum.
