The recently formed Early Career team based in R&D has responsibility for a number of our Early Talent programmes across Apprenticeships, Graduates, PhD studentships and Post-Docs.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual to join our Early Career team supporting the Associate Director, Graduate Programmes R&D as the Studentships and Placements Partner, R&D.

What you will do:

As Studentships and Placements Partner, R&D you will support both the PhD studentship programmes and industrial placements of students across R&D, including work experience, Undergraduates, Masters and PhD placements.

This will include:

Taking ownership of the studentship tracking to provide key data on the impact, investment and breadth of collaborations that we support both Internally and externally.

  • Developing and maintaining Internal Information hub and workplace pages to support communications strategy
  • Working to define communications strategy and provide regular communications to raise the visibility and profile of opportunities available
  • Supporting the R&D Early career team to set metrics and gather data to track progress across R&D Early Talent activities – developing clear and easy to use dashboards and reports
  • Identifying and delivering opportunities for cohorts to support the professional and personal development of the early talent communities that you will support.
  • Work with External Resource management/Talent Acquisition teams to plan attraction strategies, run recruitment events and manage assessment centre process to deliver success for our placement programmes.
  • Deliver cohort events for our PhD studentship community (symposia, welcome events, socials)
  • Develop and deliver onboarding and induction process for placement students.
  • Work with R&D network to identify new placement opportunities for subsequent years recruitment
  • Act as a point of contact for the supervisors, mentors, buddies to share updates and confirm process
  • Act as a point of contact for the placements students to support with non-technical issues and to ensure we are delivering a consistent experience to students.
  • Identify, collate and share new opportunities for funding and collaboration that AZ may be able to take advantage of to support our early talent strategy.
  • Working with Associate director and head of early talent to deliver UK summer work experience scheme

Essential Criteria:

To excel in this role, you will need to be a proactive, can-do person, with a flexible demeanour, and a passion for working with Early Talent

  • Proven work experience in a highly collaborative environment, with a focus towards delivering positive business results
  • Excellent organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in engaging with, and managing, multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Project and programme management skills to manage and deliver multiple pieces of work simultaneously
  • A confident communicator with the ability to represent the business area and Early career community at both Internally and externally
  • Technology savvy – comfortable with a variety of tools and platforms e.g Teams, Zoom, Workplace, Degreed
  • Confident with data and supporting the development and reporting of metrics
  • Ability to identify and drive improvements using innovative thinking
  • Ability to work independently

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of operating across business functions and geographies in large, complex and sometimes uncertain environments
  • Experience working in a global business area
  • Experience working within a Research and Development/Science environment
  • Broad understanding of Pharma industry
  • Knowledge of academia and their process as well as funding opportunities available globally
