Global External Sourcing (GES) supports the Operations strategy by establishing and working with suppliers across the world that meet our global standards. Through external suppliers, the team handles approximately one third of AstraZeneca’s value of production.
We play a key role in ensuring the external supply chains are robust and deliver value to AstraZeneca through driving continuous improvement. We also deliver new product introduction through external supply, play a pivotal role in integrating companies and products that AstraZeneca acquires and bringing innovation through supply chain.
The post holder will be accountable for the E2E external supply chain of a global product portfolio and have specific responsibility for the long term strategy of your supply chain. You will lead a matrix multi-functional team to drive this strategy and to lead supply chain performance.
You will be responsible for the integration and development of supply chains to support the E2E supply of product from external suppliers. Take ownership for introducing innovation into the Supply chains and ensuring a culture of continuous improvement is encouraged and managed. Leading multi-functional product teams for supply to ensure there are long term strategies in place to lead and develop the supply chain.
As an active member of the GES Supply and Planning Leadership team, you will take the lead in inspiring others within the function and presenting the Supply Chain strategies.
You will manage issues and make complex trade-offs with both internal and external partners. This will require well developed conceptual and analytical thinking to make complex judgements and deliver innovative solutions.
You will act as a sponsor to support and lead the implementation of supply chain change, including market launches. You will be the 1st point of contact for Senior Stakeholders within the organisation.
Taking the lead for portfolio planning resources, ensuring operational and tactical activities are aligned and supported. You will also have full visibility and ownership of Life Cycle Management activities, Range Management and Product Launches for your portfolio of Supply Chains.
A degree or equivalent in Business, Logistics, Sciences or Engineering is preferred, equivalent experience will be taken into account
Substantial Supply Chain and General Operations experience (Manufacturing, Procurement, QA, Planning experiences key)
Experience in managing and developing solutions for supply chain events
Experience in collaboration with the key interfaces within the end to end supply chain, with manufacturing and between supply chain and commercial functions
Excellent communications, influencing and collaboration skills required to manage a multitude of internal and external customers and partners
