What you’ll do

The Systems Medicine group is seeking a Modelling and Simulation Scientist passionate about developing mathematical and computational models to enhance the development of novel drugs.

The successful candidate will join a highly multidisciplinary team of scientists focused on enhancing drug safety by developing and applying mechanistic models at early stages of the drug development pipeline.

The position will be based on our vibrant R&D sites in the UK and Sweden.

We encourage the application of scientists who enjoy working in highly diverse environments with multiple stakeholders to identify opportunities, build support and deliver innovative modelling solutions.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply mechanistic mathematical models to address drug discovery and development questions.
  • Engage with project teams and deliver novel modelling solutions.
  • Keep abreast of scientific advances in modelling, pathophysiology and therapies.

Essential requirements:

  • A Ph.D. awarded in applied mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Postdoctoral experience in modelling biological systems
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques of applied mathematics and statistics.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team across disciplines
  • Proven track record of communicating research in an efficient manner via publications and conference presentations.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications (these would be a plus)

  • Basic programming skills
  • Knowledge of pharmacology principles and human physiology.
