Job Summary

You will work as a member of the Life Sciences Teaching Office, dealing with all aspects of the admissions cycle from receipt of applications through to acceptance of first year students, organise open days.

You will assist the Education Office Manager in the smooth running of the Education Office by appropriate deployment of staff and resources to provide support for the academic teaching programme.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Liaise with Admissions Tutors and Registry regarding applications to the College, record offers and inform Registry of decisions made, using Admissions Applications Management (CRM Recruit). Deal with enquiries regarding student applications to the Department. Provide a responsive, customer-focused service, either written, on the telephone, or face-to-face. Draft responses to complex enquiries from prospective students. Liaise with Admissions Tutors on bursary and scholarship applications. Produce and update new students’ welcome packs. Produce regular statistical reports for Admissions Tutors. Attend regular College-wide admissions meetings. Organise regular applicant Open Days. Proactively assist colleagues with work in other areas of the office when deemed appropriate (i.e. during times of peak activity, annual leave, sickness, etc.).

To be responsible for ensuring that data is accurate, up-to-date and complete.

Keep skills up to date and develop expertise in the key areas of the role.

Improve professional capability and expertise through appropriate development and professional activity.

 

Essential requirements

 

  • Appropriate/relevant academic or equivalent vocational qualification(s) with experience in a relevant role in a higher education institution.
  • Specialist knowledge of Registry procedures in a higher education institution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK Higher Education admissions processes (including UCAS).
  • Experience of student administration, in particular undergraduate admissions.
  • Recent experience in organising student recruitment activities.
  • Experience and self-sufficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a good telephone manner.
  • Ability to use your initiative to manage a demanding workload with changing priorities.
  • Flexible and cooperative team member.
